“Prospects for the Economy and Democracy in Indonesia”

sponsored by the American Indonesian Chamber of Commerce

Today at the Harvard Club of New York, the American Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (AICC) hosted a very special event: lunchtime discussion with renowned Indonesian economist Dr. Rizal Ramli.  The former Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance under President Abdurrahman Wahid has captured the attention of both the Indonesian people and press.  His current tour of the United States brought him to New York City, where he offered his thoughts and reflections on “Prospects for the Economy and Democracy in Indonesia” to a select crowd of international leaders and entrepreneurs, including Mr. Leonardo J. Stoute, President and CEO of the LSI Group.  Introduced by Wayne Forrest, President of the AICC, Dr. Ramli presented his forecasts for the Indonesian economy in the post-Yudhoyono era, democratic developments, and the role of international business.  Dr. Ramli’s comments were followed by a lively and stimulating discussion, with plenty of opportunities for building connections and networking. Most of the attendees are actively involved in projects involving Indonesia, such many common topics were discussed. Mr. Stoute and the LSI Group extend their special thanks to Wayne Forrest and the AICC for the invitation to this special event.
